As part of your work in the marketing team, you have been asked to produce a podcast that can be used locally to encourage local people to research and work towards a career in sport. To enhance the podcast you will be asked to reflect on your own experience within marketing or discount this career route and focus on alternative roles. The podcast should include information on: • one career/job in the private sector linked to sport and active leisure • one career/job in the public sector linked to sport and active leisure • one career/job in the voluntary sector linked to sport and active leisure. For each career/job you will need to research and include: • a job description of the role, including essential and desirable criteria for employment including the type of employment and wage boundary • the behaviours, skills and values required to pursue a successful career in each of the selected careers/jobs • an explanation of the legislative factors, employment laws and the specific health and safety requirements that are applicable to your chosen careers/jobs • a comparison of the key factors of each career pathway to indicate the similarities, differences, advantages and disadvantages of each role. This should also include the impact of health and safety requirements in each role • a justification of your personal career choices in each sector by analysing the relevance of each role for your future career progression. Support your decisions with evidence of current research. Safeguarding is a critical component of sports coaching therefore the marketing team ask you to produce a booklet that explains the importance of understanding safeguarding. The following must be addressed in the booklet: • a definition of safeguarding • types of abuse • appropriate behaviour when working with children and vulnerable people • policies and procedures within a sporting organisation on safeguarding, including securing an effective strategy when dealing with safeguarding • where to seek support on safeguarding issues.
