Simon, thank you for joining us today. Can you start by telling us a bit about 'À Deux Boules' and what inspired you to create it?

Thanks for having me, Alex! 'À Deux Boules' is a website I developed to address a significant gap in the pétanque community. Pétanque is a fantastic sport, but finding partners and staying up-to-date with local competitions can be challenging. I wanted to create a platform that would connect players, simplify the game, and foster a sense of community.

That sounds like a wonderful initiative. Can you share more about the inspiration behind 'À Deux Boules'? What specific challenges did you notice in the pétanque community that you wanted to address?

Simon Rousseau

Absolutely. In Switzerland, there are around 2,500 licensed pétanque players and about 100 clubs. Despite this growing community, there was no centralized platform to bring everyone together. Players had to rely on word of mouth or personal connections, which made things complicated. I wanted to solve this problem by creating a simple, user-friendly website where players could easily find partners and stay informed about competitions.

Certainly! The website has six main sections. The 'Home Page' introduces users to the mission of the site and the community. 'Find a Partner' is the core feature, allowing users to search for players nearby based on their location and skill level. 'Competitions' lists upcoming matches and events with dates and locations. 'Gallery' is a space to share photos from pétanque games and events. 'Testimonials' allows users to leave reviews and share their experiences. Finally, the 'Contact Page' provides a straightforward form for users to ask questions or join the platform.
