Welcome, everyone, to this special interview. Today, we are joined by Alex Stone, the CEO of ASI Signage Innovations. Alex, thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us today, especially as your company celebrates its 60th anniversary. How does it feel to be a part of such a historic milestone?

c

Alex Stone

Thank you, Emma. It's an incredible honor and a privilege to be here. Celebrating 60 years is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovation of everyone at ASI Signage Innovations. It feels like a moment to reflect on our past and look forward to an exciting future.

i

Emma Wilson

Let's start by talking about some of the most impactful projects ASI Signage Innovations has completed over the years. Can you share a few that stand out and why they were significant?

c

Alex Stone

Absolutely. One of the most significant projects we've worked on is the signage for the new Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) terminal. It was a massive undertaking that required integrating cutting-edge technology and design to create a seamless and intuitive wayfinding system. Another standout project is the signage for the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. This project was not only a technical challenge but also an emotional one, as we were helping to tell a powerful and important story.

i

Emma Wilson

Those projects are indeed remarkable. What were some of the key challenges you faced during these projects, and how did you overcome them?

c

Alex Stone

One of the biggest challenges at LAX was coordinating with multiple stakeholders and ensuring that the signage system integrated seamlessly with the airport's existing infrastructure. For the National Museum, the challenge was balancing historical accuracy with modern design. We overcame these challenges by fostering strong communication and collaboration with our clients and partners, and by staying committed to our vision and values.

i

Emma Wilson

Over the past 60 years, ASI Signage Innovations has faced numerous challenges. Can you share some of the most significant ones and how the company has grown from them?

c

Alex Stone

One of the biggest challenges was the shift from traditional signage to digital and interactive solutions. In the early 2000s, we had to adapt quickly to new technologies and customer expectations. This required significant investment in R&D and training our team. Another challenge was the economic downturns, particularly the 2008 financial crisis, which forced us to become more efficient and innovative. These challenges have made us stronger and more resilient, and they have shaped our approach to problem-solving and innovation.

i

Emma Wilson

It's inspiring to hear how the company has adapted and grown. How do you see technology shaping the future of the signage industry, and what new innovations is ASI Signage Innovations exploring?

c

Alex Stone

Technology is revolutionizing the signage industry. We are exploring the integration of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to create more immersive and interactive experiences. Smart signage with real-time data and IoT capabilities is also a focus. We believe that the future of signage is not just about providing information but enhancing the overall user experience. At ASI, we are investing in R&D to stay at the forefront of these trends and deliver innovative solutions to our clients.

i

Emma Wilson

ASI Signage Innovations has been a family-owned business for three generations. What are some of the unique challenges and benefits of running a family business, and how has this influenced the company's culture and values?

c

Alex Stone

Running a family business can be both a blessing and a challenge. One of the biggest benefits is the strong sense of loyalty and commitment. Our team feels like an extended family, and this fosters a positive and supportive work environment. However, it can also be challenging to balance family dynamics and business decisions. We've learned to establish clear roles and responsibilities and to maintain open lines of communication. This has helped us build a culture that values trust, integrity, and innovation.

i

Emma Wilson

That's a great point about the importance of clear roles and communication. How do you ensure that the family's values are passed down to the next generation and integrated into the company's operations?

c

Alex Stone

We have a strong emphasis on mentorship and leadership development. The older generation actively involves the younger members in key decisions and projects. We also have a formalized process for succession planning to ensure a smooth transition. Additionally, we hold regular family meetings to discuss the company's values, goals, and challenges. This helps keep everyone aligned and committed to our mission.

i

Emma Wilson

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in many industries. How is ASI Signage Innovations addressing environmental concerns and promoting sustainability in your projects?

c

Alex Stone

Sustainability is a core value at ASI. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting eco-friendly practices. This includes using sustainable materials, optimizing energy consumption in our manufacturing processes, and designing signage that has a longer lifespan. We also work closely with our clients to develop sustainable signage solutions that meet their needs while minimizing environmental impact.

i

Emma Wilson

That's fantastic to hear. Can you share any specific examples of sustainable projects or initiatives that ASI has undertaken recently?

c

Alex Stone

Certainly. One recent project is the signage for a new LEED-certified office building in San Francisco. We used recycled materials and energy-efficient lighting to create a sustainable and modern look. Another initiative is our partnership with a local recycling program to ensure that any waste generated during production is properly disposed of and recycled. These efforts not only help the environment but also enhance our reputation as a responsible and forward-thinking company.

i

Emma Wilson

The signage industry is constantly evolving. What are some of the current trends you're seeing, and how is ASI Signage Innovations staying ahead of the curve?

c

Alex Stone

One of the biggest trends is the integration of smart technologies and data analytics. Clients are looking for signage that can adapt to real-time information and provide personalized experiences. We are also seeing a shift towards more sustainable and eco-friendly materials, as well as a focus on aesthetics and design. To stay ahead, we are investing in R&D, collaborating with technology partners, and continuously educating our team. We believe that innovation and adaptability are key to our success.

i

Emma Wilson

It's clear that ASI is at the forefront of these trends. How do you see the signage industry evolving over the next decade, and what role do you envision ASI playing in this evolution?

c

Alex Stone

I believe the signage industry will become even more integrated with technology and data. We will see more interactive and personalized experiences, as well as a greater emphasis on sustainability. ASI will continue to be a leader in this evolution by pushing the boundaries of innovation and excellence. We will invest in new technologies, expand our global presence, and build stronger partnerships with clients and industry leaders. Our goal is to create signage solutions that not only meet the needs of today but also anticipate the needs of tomorrow.

i

Emma Wilson

On a more personal note, what has been your most rewarding experience in leading ASI Signage Innovations, and what motivates you to continue pushing the boundaries of the industry?

c

Alex Stone

One of the most rewarding experiences has been seeing the impact of our work on communities and people's lives. Whether it's helping to create a welcoming environment in a hospital or guiding visitors through a complex airport, our signage makes a real difference. What motivates me is the passion and dedication of our team. Their creativity and commitment inspire me to keep pushing for excellence and innovation. I believe that by working together, we can achieve great things and make a positive impact in the world.

i

Emma Wilson

That's a beautiful sentiment. How do you balance the demands of running a business with personal well-being and maintaining a healthy work-life balance?

c

Alex Stone

Finding balance is crucial. I prioritize my health and well-being by making time for exercise and hobbies. I also set clear boundaries between work and personal time. It's important to disconnect and recharge, which helps me stay focused and energized when I'm at work. I also encourage my team to do the same, as a healthy and balanced team is more productive and creative.

i

Emma Wilson

Finally, as ASI Signage Innovations celebrates its 60th anniversary, what is your vision for the next 60 years, and how do you see the company continuing to lead the way in the industry?

c

Alex Stone

My vision for the next 60 years is to build on our legacy of innovation and excellence. I see ASI continuing to lead the industry by embracing new technologies, fostering sustainable practices, and creating signage solutions that enhance people's experiences. We will expand our global presence and form new partnerships to drive growth and innovation. Most importantly, we will remain true to our values of integrity, creativity, and service.
