Welcome to today's interview! I'm ecstatic to have Sofia Carter with us, a talented actress and a fierce climate activist. Sofia, thank you for joining us.

Sofia Carter

Thank you so much for having me, Ryan! I'm excited to discuss these important issues.

Let's dive right in. Recently, two climate activists were jailed for throwing soup on Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers' painting in London. What are your thoughts on this protest?

c

Sofia Carter

It's a complex situation. While I understand the frustration that drives these activists, I believe there are more constructive ways to raise awareness without risking cultural treasures. Art can inspire change, but it shouldn’t be vandalized in the process.

You mentioned the importance of art. How do you think art can be used effectively to communicate urgent social issues like climate change?

c

Sofia Carter

Art has a unique way of resonating with people emotionally. Films, paintings, and performances can capture the urgency of climate change in a way that statistics and reports cannot. I think artists have a responsibility to lead conversations and engage their audiences.

As someone deeply involved in environmental initiatives, what projects are you currently working on that you’re most passionate about?

c

Sofia Carter

I’m currently involved in a project that combines sustainable fashion with awareness campaigns for ocean conservation. We’re creating a collection that not only showcases beautiful designs but also educates consumers about the impact of plastic on marine life. It's a thrilling way to merge my passion for fashion and the environment.

i

Ryan Thompson

That sounds incredible! What challenges have you faced in your activism, and how do you overcome them?

c

Sofia Carter

The biggest challenge is often getting people to care enough to take action. There’s a lot of climate fatigue out there. I try to stay optimistic and focus on positive change, connecting with like-minded individuals and communities who are equally passionate about making a difference.

As we wrap up, what message would you like to share with our audience about the intersection of art and activism?

c

Sofia Carter

I’d say that art can be a powerful tool for change, but it’s important to respect the mediums we use. Let’s inspire and educate, not alienate. Together, we can use our voices and platforms to advocate for a sustainable future.
